You Might Be Sleeping are a band based in Guelph, Ontario whose music is the epitome of art that is both stirring and honest. The musicians seemingly never rest as they continuously explore and create, touching all aspects of their genre. From folk rock to heavy-hitting distorted jams, there is no shortage of creativity to be found from the young writers. Their shows are well-crafted and lively, using a mix of emotional ballads and stark build-ups to take the listener on a journey.
Having met in elementary school, the three founding members of the band began playing and writing music after hours in their high school, running off pure passion for writing and playing music. Since then, the band has taken on multiple forms before solidifying themselves as a four-piece outfit featuring Attila Fay on drums, Nico Valeriote on vocals/guitar, Toby Rossi on bass, and Simon Dawes on lead guitar. They have played to hundreds in local events, showcased their sound in legendary venues like The Horseshoe Tavern, and opened up for well-established regional bands.
As they gear up for their debut album release, You Might Be Sleeping have been releasing well-crafted singles with a wide range of influence. Their most recent release, called “All Things Must Grow,” is the band's softest and most sombre release to date. It touches on the prospect of growing up and encapsulates the essence of a chapter closing. Local anticipation builds as unreleased music continues to ring out at shows
